Boxing chief Ricky Vargas is confident that his camp can secure a temporary restraining order (TRO) to stop incumbent Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose Cojuangco Jr. from running unopposed in the POC elections Friday.
“We’re just waiting for the results of what we’ve filed. Hopefully by tomorrow, we can get a TRO,” said Vargas after Cojuangco failed to show up in their meeting yesterday set by Philippine Sports Commission chair William Ramirez at the PSC offices in Manila.
Ramirez said he called up Cojuangco and sent text messages Tuesday night and yesterday morning to confirm the attendance of the POC chief but never got a reply.
Vargas was disqualified by the POC elections committee to challenge Cojuangco in the polls.
