Khim Iglupas once again found herself the “last girl standing” after disposing of her Japanese foe Thursday in the Phinma-PSC international juniors championships at Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
The 18-year-old Iglupas, last year’s Week 1 champion, downed Shiori Ito, 6-4, 6-3, to advance to the quarterfinals while the rest of the local players bowed out in the singles events.
“Right now she’s getting into her game and more focused,” said coach Jun Toledo.
The world No. 104 in juniors, semifinalist in Week 1, will next take on another Japanese, Ange Obe Kajuro.
Frances Santiago, Shaira Hope Rivera, boys’ top seed Bryan Otico and No. 3 Arthur Pantino all lost their singles matches.
