PH fighter Lausa dominates Chinese foe in UFC debut
Filipino flyweight Jenel Lausa opened his UFC career in style, dominating Yao Zhukui via unanimous decision Sunday (Manila time) in the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 101: Whittaker vs. Brunson at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
A former boxer, it was a given that the 28-year-old will dominate the duel with his punches, but it was a head kick that knocked down his Chinese foe in the second round.

Article continues after this advertisementControlling the match in all three rounds, Lausa (7-2, 1-0 UFC) took the win in convincing fashion with all three judges scoring the fight, 30-27, over Yao (2-4, 1-3 UFC).
“I want to thank all of my family, my wife and son, my team, my fans, everyone who has always supported me in the Philippines and around the world, I am especially thankful to God for this blessing,” Lausa, a native of Concepcion, Iloilo, said.
The 28-year-old Lausa also hopes his victory will be a sign of better things to come as he seeks to make a name for himself in the Octagon.
