Filipino flyweight Jenel Lausa opened his UFC career in style, dominating Yao Zhukui via unanimous decision Sunday (Manila time) in the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 101: Whittaker vs. Brunson at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
A former boxer, it was a given that the 28-year-old will dominate the duel with his punches, but it was a head kick that knocked down his Chinese foe in the second round.

Controlling the match in all three rounds, Lausa (7-2, 1-0 UFC) took the win in convincing fashion with all three judges scoring the fight, 30-27, over Yao (2-4, 1-3 UFC).
“I want to thank all of my family, my wife and son, my team, my fans, everyone who has always supported me in the Philippines and around the world, I am especially thankful to God for this blessing,” Lausa, a native of Concepcion, Iloilo, said.
The 28-year-old Lausa also hopes his victory will be a sign of better things to come as he seeks to make a name for himself in the Octagon.
“This win is going to be the first of many, and I hope to get more blessings, more fights, and hopefully I will eventually get to the belt,” he said.
