Ara Galang is on her first swing in the import-laden conference of the Philippine Superliga, and the rookie is perfectly at ease playing against bigger, and at times, better players.
“Malaking bagay yun na hindi lang locals kalaban mo, pati imports, (It’s a big deal that you’re not just playing against locals, but also against imports),” said Galang Sunday at Philsports Arena. “Kailangan ka mag step up lagi (You always have to step up).”
Galang’s F2 Logistics overcame Cignal in four sets, 25-17, 25-16, 22-25, 25-10, for the last semifinals spot in the Grand Prix and she made her mark both in the offensive and defensive departments.
F2 imports Sydney Kemper and Hayley Spelman had 18 and 17 points, respectively, to lead the Cargo Movers but Galang was not far behind as she finished with 13 points.
The former De La Salle star also had 10 digs in the game.
“First time ko rin mag Grand Prix and siyempre nakaka-excite (It’s my first time playing in the Grand Prix, and it’s exciting for me),” said Galang. “Magandang kalaban imports, may matutunan ka sa kanila (It’s nice to play with imports because you can learn from them).”
