San Miguel-Northern cement leads by 5
San Miguel-Northern Cement pooled a second round 135 points built around Chit Laureta’s one-over-par 70 worth 35 as the defending champions opened up a five-shot lead over Manila Southwoods at the halfway point of Fil Championship division play of the 67th Fil-Am Invitational.
Laureta gunned down three birdies against a bogey at picturesque Camp John Hay in Baguio and San Miguel-Northern Cement got 34s from Benjie Sumulong and Bong Sison with either 32s of Eddie Bagtas and Jingy Tuason counting.
San Miguel-Northern Cement now has a 265 total as Southwoods slowed down with 126 to be at 260.
Megafiber, the champion in 2014, fired 125 points for 251, with Pugo Adventure sputtering for the second straight day with 120 for 238, making it look like a two-cornered race when action shifts to Baguio Country Club starting Wednesday.
Raul Minoza returned a second straight 34 to pace Southwoods. Edmund Yee, who led Southwoods with 38 points Sunday, had 31, with the Carmona-based squad also counting the 33 and 31 of Koreans Kui Sun-moon and Chang Duk-jung, respectively.
