Coach Eric Altamirano has bid National University goodbye.
After the Bulldogs fell out of the Final Four for the first time in five years, the 50-year-old mentor resigned from his post as the head coach last week, according to sources close to the situation.
The Bulldogs fell out of the semifinals this season after only finishing with a 5-9 record.
Also leaving are Altamirano’s assistant coaches Joey Guanio, Vic Ycasiano, Paolo Layug, and Anton Altamirano, all of whom also tendered their resignations.
Altamirano steered NU to its first championship in 60 years as he led the team composed of Alfred Aroga,
Gelo Alolino, Troy Rosario, and Glenn Khobuntin to the title in UAAP Season 77.
He amassed a 50-43 record in his six-year tenure with the Bulldogs.
