Despite the arrival of Kevin Durant this off season, Golden State Warriors’ superstar Steph Curry remains as the face of the franchise.

Although it’s still early, his impending free agency by season’s end has already ignited multiple speculations on whether he would leave the Bay Area and play somewhere else.

The two-time league MVP has been vocal on his intention to stay with the only franchise he has ever known, but in a recent interview with The Charlotte Observer, the 28-year-old sharpshooter didn’t rule out a potential signing with his hometown Charlotte.

“It’s on my radar,” the one-time NBA champion said. “But it’s not really on my mind as much day to day. Obviously I had a strong tie to Charlotte and would have loved to play there. I’m very comfortable in that city. It’s hard to say exactly what the situation will be this summer.”

It is also worth noting that his father, Del—who’s a big influence on his career—spent 10 seasons playing for the Hornets. Curry’s parents currently reside in the “Queen City” and he also owns a house in the area.

Dell, however, leaves the decision-making to his children, the report stated.

Although he admitted to be tempted with a homecoming, Curry clarified that he still prefers to stay where he is, and that Golden State still be his primary option come free agency.

“Obviously I love it here in the Bay Area,” he said. “It’s all I’ve known in the league. And if the situation is right going forward, this is a place I would love to play.”  Khristian Ibarrola
