Is Pido Jarencio on his way back to University of Santo Tomas?

The champion coach posted a cryptic message on his social media accounts on Tuesday, which some interpreted as a sign that he could be returning as a head coach.

“Lets bring back the glory! #pusopridepalaban #GoUSTe #USTGrowlingTigers,” the tweet read, accompanied with a photo the Tigers celebrating the UAAP Season 69 chamionship.

Jarencio, who was a Growling Tigers star back in the 1980s, coached the squad from 2006 where he won the
championship in his rookie season.

He then went on to two more Finals appearances before his departure in 2013.

Jarencio then had two stints as the head coach for GlobalPort in the PBA, leading the squad to its first semifinals appearance in the 2015 Philippine Cup.

Currently, he is the basketball operations for the Batang Pier.

There has been a clamor among the UST alumni urging the 52-year-old mentor to return to España after three
years.

Since he left, the Growling Tigers made it back to the Finals in UAAP Season 78 under coach Bong dela Cruz but lost to Far Eastern University then dropped to last place under coach Boy Sablan, curiously a former assistant coach of Jarencio, with a 3-11 record in Season 79.
