Katsuragawa eagle helps Southwoods pad lead over Royal Northwoods

Reedy Yuto Katsuragawa fired an eagle-aided three-under-par 58 worth 39 points yesterday and boosted Manila Southwoods to a second round 137 and a 19-point lead over Royal Northwoods in Fil Championship division play of the 67th Fil-Am Invitational.

The 17-year-old Katsuragawa also had two birdies against a closing hole bogey at demanding Country Club in Baguio, sealing the first sub-par card in the tournament that ushered the Carmona-based bets to a commanding lead.

Aidric Chan fired 34, Kristoffer Arevalo contributed 33 with either 31s of Carl Corpus and Aira Alido counting.

Royal Northwoods drew a pair of 33s from Richnell Albano and Luis Castro to tally 128 for the day with defending champion San Miguel-Northern Cement inching its way to third with a 122 to be 29 points adrift and in need of a super third round tomorrow to entertain hopes of a repeat.

Action goes to nearby Camp John Hay after a rest day today.

Northwoods missed the services of ace Rupert Zaragosa, who was downed by a stomach virus as early as the first round.
