Terrence Romeo fired 35 points to lead GlobalPort to a huge bounce back win at the expense of Barangay Ginebra, 91-84, Sunday in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Catching fire late, the super scorer uncorked 15 of his season-high points in the fourth period to douse off numerous rallies from the Gin Kings.

“I guess my players can still vividly remember when we lost to Ginebra in the preseason by 23 points and they didn’t want that to happen again,” said GlobalPort coach Franz Pumaren. “We’re able to weather the storm.”

JR Quiñahan had 15 markers and nine boards, while Stanley Pringle got 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

“Good win for us. Basically, we’re off for at least a week and it would’ve been a brutal practice if we lost today,” remarked Pumaren. “We’re slowly maturing. We crumbled against Alaska. What a way to bounce back.”

The Batang Pier joined San Miguel and Rain or Shine at the top with a 3-1 record, while dropping Ginebra to 1-2.

LA Tenorio topped the Gin Kings with 23 points, eight assists, and five rebounds and Japeth Aguilar got 23 markers and eight boards, but the two failed to get ample help from their teammates on the offensive end.
