Pauline del Rosario put the finishing touches to another dominating performance abroad, closing out with a one-under-par 71 to rule the 25th SICC/DBS Junior Invitational Golf Championship by 13 shots at Singapore Island Country Club recently.
The pro-bound Del Rosario, now the spearhead of the rock-solid The Country Club team, tallied 208 over 54 holes, counting earlier rounds of 65 and 72, as she left Indonesia’s Ribka Vania eating her dust for the Class A and overall championships.
Del Rosario thus became the second Filipino to rule this event after Princess Superal. It also kept alive a super hot streak in the last four weeks after victories in the Melaka and Penang Opens in Malaysia.
“It’s nice to keep our winning tradition in the event,” said Del Rosario.
Michaela Tjan, also of Indonesia, trailed Del Rosario by two after the opening round, but ballooned to an 86 in the second and faded away.
Mika Fortuna, the other The Country Club bet, finished fifth at 223 after rounds of 73, 73 and 77. —MUSONG R. CASTILLO
