Still on a high after last week’s 81-74 victory over Rain or Shine, Ginebra was brought back down to earth with a 91-84 loss to GlobalPort on Sunday.

And the Gin Kings didn’t fail to recognize the reality check they were dealt with as they suffered their second defeat in three games.

“Coach Tim (Cone) told us that we’re like a new team. With last game’s win, we think that we can beat GlobalPort individually because from the start, we looked like we wanted to engage in a one-on-one battle,” shared Japeth Aguilar. “Our ball movement was gone, we’re not sharing the ball. In our first pass, we shoot immediately. That’s what’s frustrating.”

The high-flying forward had 23 markers and eight boards in the game, but save for LA Tenorio who also had 23, there were little to no support coming from the rest of the team.

“We’re not focused. Same with what coach Tim said that we are not mindful,” he said. “It’s something we must do. We don’t have to just show up to the games, we have to come knowing what we have to do.”

“We want to play right away to atone for this loss,” he said. “Losses like this makes you impatient. We want to bounce back right away.”
