NBA: Ex-Laker Lamar Odom enters rehab

Just a year ago, former NBA player Lamar Odom was found unconscious in an apparent drug overdose in Nevada, USA.

After recovering from this near-fatal incident and constantly battling his inner demons, the 2011 NBA 6th Man of the Year has reportedly checked himself into a drug rehabilitation facility in San Diego, California.

A report from US Weekly clarified that the 37-year-old lanky forward did not relapse but voluntarily sought out treatment to “start fresh for the New Year.” The report added that Odom ”did it for his kids.”

It remained unclear what pushed the 14-year NBA veteran to take a 30-day precautionary measure, but it is worth noting that Odom’s divorce from his wife, Khloe Kardashian, will be finalized in a few days.

People close to Odom also revealed that the upcoming “holiday blues” also motivated his decision and that he didn’t want to relapse.

In his prime, Odom was an instrumental figure during the Los Angeles Lakers’ back-to-back championship reign in 2009 and 2010.
