PSL squads brace for massive shakeup

Philippine Superliga teams, led by top clubs Petron and RC Cola-Army, are expected to undergo major shakeup as players’ contracts expire Dec. 31.

Already, the fate of the Army franchise, winner of three PSL conferences, is in question as 10 of its players, including marquee spiker Jovelyn Gonzaga, are joining the Philippine Army Candidate Soldier Course.

The eight-month course, to be held at Training and Doctrine Center in Capas, Tarlac, will also effectively sideline Nene Bautista, Honey Royse Tubino Tin Agno and Joanne Bunag.

Two-time champion Petron is also expected to hire several key players. Sources said the Tri-Activ Spikers are eyeing flashy UST spiker Cherry Rondina from Foton.
