Boyet Fernandez will have his hands full in his return to San Beda.
The 45-year-old mentor will start the Red Lions’ buildup for the NCAA Season 93 early next year with the team set to join the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup under the banner of Cignal.
San Beda team manager Jude Roque announced the reappointment of Fernandez, as school’s top patron Manny V. Pangilinan confirmed the move on Sunday.
“After consulting with the school president, MVP confirmed last night the appointment of Boyet Fernandez as new Red Lions head coach. I got the call from MVP late last night. It’s also a logical choice especially with the newly formed Cignal-San Beda D-League team, which Boyet will also handle,” he said in a statement.

INQUIRER.net had earlier reported Fernandez’s move back to San Beda following coach Jamike Jarin’s transfer to National University.
Fernandez previously handled the Red Lions back in 2013 and 2014, leading the team to two titles to complete the ‘five-peat’ before handling NLEX in the PBA.
With his return, he is set to handle a San Beda team led by Javee Mocon, Davon Potts, Robert Bolick, and Arnaud Noah, who carried the Red Lions to the championship two months ago.
