It’s no secret that the reigning NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers share a unique bond with each other, and by the looks of it, the same camaraderie transcends even to past members of the squad.
Kyrie Irving’s former back-up point guard Matthew Dellavedova was back in Quicken Loans Arena on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) as his current team the Milwaukee Bucks get set to square off against his former stablemates.
Prior to tip-off, Cavs’ general manager David Griffin presented the 26-year-old Aussie with his hard-earned championship ring from last year’s finals.
Before receiving the hardware, LeBron James and his former teammates rushed to Dellavedova’s side, tousled his hair and playfully pushed him around. The incoming avalanche of hulking athletes also knocked down their beloved GM in the process.
Although serving as a mere role player during his four-year tenure with the team, Delly was adored by the city of Cleveland for his sheer toughness and gritty defence. He also stepped up big time and held on the starter spot in the absence of Irving during the 2015 NBA Finals.
The Cavaliers, minus LeBron, also showed the same love to their former center Timofey Mozgov when the Los Angeles Lakers came to town over the weekend. Khristian Ibarrola
