BOCAUE – Star did its best, but Marc Pingris knows it still wasn’t good enough.

The hardworking forward resigned to the idea that Ginebra was the better team on Christmas Day.

“We gave our all. Japeth was just really lucky from outside. We didn’t expect that to happen. But we also gave our all.”

Aguilar torched Star with a career-high 32 points as Ginebra once again took this Christmas Clasico duel, 86-79, on Sunday at Philippine Arena here.

Pingris didn’t deny that loss was their own doing, as the Gin Kings exploited their defense and also commanded the boards, 54-47.

“We had lots of mistakes, in our rotation. We also lost the rebounding battle, Thompson made life hard for us. Maybe, we’re just too over-eager.”

Pingris said that this loss should only motivate Star as it eyes to bounce back strong when the new year comes.

“The game was really good. It’s just there will be winners and losers. For us, we just have to adjust and not get stuck. We have to adjust on our next game and when we return to practice, focus on the little things. I hope we adjust in our next game.”

Star returns to battle against Alaska on January 11.
