Alberto Lim Jr. is hoping to don the national colors for the first time in next year’s Davis Cup.

The 17-year-old from Matatalaib, Tarlac, said he will add more pro tournaments in 2017—his last year in the juniors division.

“I’m optimistic that I can make a smooth transition from juniors to pros,” said Lim.

Lim ended his season with stints in the Hong Kong Futures.

“Hopefully I can play in Davis Cup,” said Lim, ranked 52nd in the world from as high as 12th last year.

He will fight for slots against  2009 Australian Open doubles champ Francis Casey Alcantara, 2010 Australian Open singles quarterfinalist Jeson Patrombon, and veteran Davis Cup members like Treat Huey and Ruben Gonzales.

Cebuana Lhuillier-Philippines, playing in Group 2 for a sixth straight year, will host Indonesia in the first round on Feb. 3 to 5.
