PBA D-League: AMA elated with ‘all-around’ Teng

2016 PBA D-League Draft no. 1 overall pick Jeron Teng has been nothing but stellar so far for AMA Online Education.

Titans coach Mark Herrera couldn’t be more pleased with the way the La Salle stud has been performing so far in the team’s buildup for the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.

“Jeron is still in shape and he still has the same intensity like what he had in Game 2 (of the UAAP Finals). He’s also very coachable,” the mentor raved on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-2 second-generation star averaged 17.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists as he helped the Green Archers snare the UAAP Season 79 title, where he was also named as the Finals Most Valuable Player.

Herrera deems the winger as the undoubted leader of the squad.

“I still can’t see any point of concern for him because he’s an all-around player who can play offense and defense,” he said.

Teng inked a one-conference deal with AMA, which hopes to make its first ever semifinals appearance.

Joining him in the Titans camp are veteran Jay-R Taganas, guard Diego Dario, and Fil-Am swingman Ryan Arambulo.

The 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup opens on January 19 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
