Nat’l boxing president Vargas wants accountability from PSC, POC officials
TAGAYTAY CITY—Boxing chief Ricky Vargas yesterday proposed that the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee sit down together with the national sports associations and determine each other’s accountability.
The president of the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines has emphasized the need for these groups to know their responsibilities and hold themselves answerable either in the face of success or failure.

“Let’s go out and say to each other in the face that you are accountable and you have to achieve this or that, then we can make sports a community where we can build our athletes together,” added Vargas.
He pointed out that NSAs should be responsible for the performances of their athletes while the POC should also do its job of facilitating the needs of the athletes and coaches.

“We need to show our athletes and our people that we are accountable. Once we do this, we will get that gold medal [in the Olympics],” said Vargas.
