Since Tuesday, several basketball fan pages in the Philippines have encouraged their massive following to vote for the 24-year-old guard by posting his name along with the hashtag #NBAVote.
The influx of online support has overwhelmed the third-year Laker, and he decided to give thanks to his loyal following through a 24-second clip.
The heartwarming gesture opened with Clarkson’s adorable pooch, ‘the Filipino Frenchie’ Minxy, who introduced his beloved owner with a note.
Clarkson, whose mother Annette Davis is of half Filipino descent, wasted no time and immediately gave props to everyone who wants to see him represent the Philippines in the upcoming All-Star game in New Orleans.
“Thank you so much for all your votes. I’m so humbled. Please keep tweeting and hashtagging #NBAVOTE JORDAN CLARKSON,” he said while standing behind the Los Angeles Lakers team logo.
Clarkson endeared himself even more to Filipinos, as he spoke in Tagalog to finish his speech: “Salamat, salamat po. Mahal ko kayo,” he uttered.
JC is currently averaging 13.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists this season, while mostly playing a reserve role for the Los Angeles-based squad.
Fans still have until January 19 (January 20 in Manila) to cast their votes and possibly send the half-Filipino youngster to the All-Star game. Khristian Ibarrola
