San Beda capped off its perfect season with a dominating 5-1 victory over CSB-La Salle Greenhills to snare the NCAA Season 92 juniors’ football title Tuesday at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Bucking a sluggish showing in the first half, the Red Cubs went to work and overpowered the Junior Blazers to cruise to their 17th overall crown.
Reinhard Colasito broke the ice with a goal in the 21st minute for San Beda, but Theodore Travis leveled the match for St. Benilde at injury time just before the halftime break.
Learning their lesson from the first half, the Red Cubs unleashed an all-out attack and scored four goals in 20 minutes.
Christopher Villanueva gave San Beda the lead two minutes into the second half, followed by a Marco Cauyong goal in the 52nd minute.
Villanueva made it a brace in the 56th minute, before Noli Albert Dollentas ended the blitz with another goal in the 67th minute.
The victory pulled San Beda within three championships behind LSGH, which has 20, for most juniors football crowns.
