Mahindra coach Chris Gavina questioned his team’s desire following a 104-92 loss to TNT on Wednesday.
At 2-6, the Floodbuster are now on the verge of elimination and with only three games left to make a playoff run, their will to win will be tested yet again.
“I give a lot of credit to Talk ‘N Text, they really came out with a higher desire to win tonight,” said Gavina.
“Talk ‘N Text definitely had the greater will to win today. We had great preparation going into this game but our shots didn’t fall and we didn’t stick to what we usually do in practice and that translated to, for me, a disappointing loss.”
The top eight teams advance to the next round and from the looks of it, Mahindra’s playoff hopes are bleak with eighth-running Star two games ahead of the Floodbuster.
But Gavina has no plans on waving the white flag just yet.
“We’re 2-6 so we really have nothing to lose just everything to gain,” he said.
“It’s either we go into tank mode or we lift ourselves up from the failure. I’m a big fan of believing that your failures lead to your success. We’ll build on this.”
Mahindra wraps up its elimination round campaign against Alaska on Sunday, NLEX on Jan. 27 and Star on Feb. 1.
