Cherry Rondina, one of the most animated and explosive players today, has been designated as University of Santo Tomas’ captain.

The diminutive spark plug received the captain’s role during the team’s training camp in Thailand a week ago and Rondina is ready to lead the Golden Tigresses in Season 79.

Though she admits there’s pressure that comes with her position, which batch mate EJ Laure previously owned, Rondina knows she and her teammates are on the same page.

“The pressure’s always there,” Rondina told INQUIRER.net Saturday.

“But I know that me and my teammates will work together and that calms me down and I know we have each others’ backs.”

Rondina is no stranger to the big stage as she once represented the Philippines as part of Foton in the 2016 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship.

Still the skipper’s role is new to her and even someone with her spunk is prone to surprises once in a while.

“I was shocked when they told me I would be the captain,” said Rondina.
