HK lions douse alab streak

HONG KONG—What was expected to be a showcase of Alab Pilipinas’ steady improvement in the 2017 Asean Basketball League turned out to be a performance they would rather forget.

Playing their worst game of the season so far, the Filipinos yielded to the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions, 80-93, Sunday night, ending a three game winning streak at Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai district here.

Alab was  a mere shadow of the team that won against Kaohsiung Truth, Singapore Slingers and Westsports Malaysia the past three weeks as it allowed the hot shooting Long Lions to race into an early double-digit lead that ballooned to as large as 29 in the third period.

The Long Lions thus grabbed solo second by improving to 6-2—two games within the Slingers—while dealing Alab its third loss in eight games.
