Collegiate stars Kiefer Ravena and Jeron Teng team up anew to lead Mighty Sports in the 2017 Dubai Invitational Basketball Tournament in February.
Head coach Charles Tiu confirmed the additions of the best amateur talents in the country today to his side.
Ravena, who is currently in the United States trying his luck in the NBA D-League, and Teng, who is leading AMA Online Education in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup, will take a break from their responsibilities to carry the flag anew in the tournament set on February 18 to 25 at Al Ahli Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Tiu welcomed Ravena, whom he described “as one the better guards in the country and a lock to be a star when he joins the PBA,” to his side.
“It’s huge. We are happy to have him again. Hopefully he gets to play for the national team some day.”
“I’m hoping he has gotten even better with his continuous training in the states and hopefully he’s matured more as a player. I think it will be a treat also for his fans in Dubai to see him live,” he added.
Teng, meanwhile, is looking forward to getting additional experience before turning pro.
“I feel I can enjoy that experience and at the same time, I’ll be able to represent the country,” he said.
AMA has already given Teng the green light to join Mighty Sports for the tourney.
“As long as it’s for flag and country, we have no problem with that,” said AMA coach Mark Herrera.
Teng will only miss one game for the Titans, AMA’s clash against Blustar Detergent on February 21 at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
This won’t be the first time Teng and Ravena will play on the same side, with the two joining forces at the 2015 Fiba 3×3 All-Stars in Gharafa, Doha in Qatar back in December 2015.
The duo teamed up with Bright Akhuetie and Ola Adeogun as they turned back the Qatar under-18 squad in an exhibition 3-on-3 game.
Aside from the two, Mighty Sports will also have former Ginebra import Justin Brownlee, ex-NBA center Hasheem Thabeet, and former two-time PBA Most Valuable Player Willie Miller.
