Jerwin Ancajas and Mexican counterpuncher Jose Alfredo Rodriguez breezed through the weigh-in Saturday, on the eve of their battle for the International Boxing Federation super flyweight crown in Macau.
Ancajas has been installed the favorite to keep the 115-pound title, owing to his strong showing in dethroning the heralded McJoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico last September.
Ancajas went the extra mile during training, particularly in the last three weeks where he worked out at the exclusive gym of sportsman Hermie Esguerra in Lipa City.
Having sparred against former world title contender Drian Francisco and two other capable boxers, Ancajas (25-1 with 16 knockouts) believes he’s in top condition.
Trained and managed by Joven Jimenez, Ancajas is expected to bring the fight to Rodriguez, who is 2 1/2 inches shorter in height.
