Roode new king at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio
The Glorious era begins in NXT.
Bobby Roode captured the NXT Championship, beating Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio Sunday (Manila time) at Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio.
Article continues after this advertisementThe brash Canadian took advantage of the champion’s injury as Nakamura hurt his right knee after hitting a knee strike on Roode on the ring apron.
The King of Strong Style was still able to connect with the Kinshasa, but was unable to make the pin as he clutched his leg in pain.
The break gave Roode ample time to recover, locking in a half crab on the ailing leg before Nakamura fought back with a triangle choke. Unfortunately, the pain was too much for the Japanese champion as the challenger connected with his second Glorious DDT for the three-count.

Royce and Kay earlier eliminated Nikki Cross out of the equation, suplexing her to a table at the commentators’ area before the Empress of Tomorrow waged her fightback to keep her title.
Seth Rollins also made a surprise appearance, calling out WWE COO Triple H before being escorted out of the venue.
The Authors of Pain dethroned DIY to claim the NXT Tag Team Championships.
Akam and Rezar nailed the Super Collider on Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa before the duo hit the Last Chapter on Ciampa for the three-count.
Roderick Strong also topped Andrade “Cien” Almas after he reversed a hangman DDT to a running knee.
Eric Young also capitalized on the numbers gain, as SAnitY members Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain allowed their leader to hit a neckbreaker on Tye Dillinger to take the win.
