D-League: Tanduay whips Wangs for 1st win

Tanduay found its mark in the second half to pound Wangs Basketball, 94-81, for its first win in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup Monday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Mark Cruz lit up the scoreboard, scattering 27 points and three rebounds to carry Rhum Masters to victory.

Bong Quinto had 14 markers, six boards, and five assists, while Raphy Reyes had 13 points and five assists.

The win allowed Tanduay to atone for its 83-67 loss to Cafe France last Monday.

The Rhum Masters fended off the pesky Couriers late in the third frame, turning a 64-57 advantage to a 13-4 blast to end the period and hold a 77-61 lead.

They would extend the lead to 22, 84-62 courtesy of a Paul Sanga trey with 8:22 left in the game.

Mark Brana topped Wangs Basketball with 13 points and six rebounds off the bench in the loss.
