Mahindra is keeping its hopes up that Russel Escoto’s injury isn’t as serious as it looks.

The Floodbuster camp said that they’re still awaiting for the swelling on Escoto’s left knee to go down for further evaluation.

“We’re just waiting for the inflammation to go down, and then we’ll have him undergo a second MRI,” said Dr. Iby Bautista, Mahindra’s sports rehabilitation specialist.

Escoto, a member of the Gilas Pilipinas pool, hurt his knee in the first half of Mahindra’s 106-96 win over NLEX last Friday.

Bautista said that the first MRI showed that Escoto injured his left MCL, but the Floodbuster would rather wait for the results of the second MRI before making a final diagnosis.

“We’ll wait for the MRI first before we know how long he’ll be out,” he said.

Escoto has been averaging 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in his first conference with Mahindra.
