Cignal boosts franchise roster, signs 3 big stars

Cignal just joined the arms race in the Philippine Superliga.

Big stars Jovelyn Gonzaga, Honey Tubino and Rachel Anne Daquis will be playing for the HD Spikers starting this season in a bid to finally give the franchise its first ever conference title.

Sources said Gonzaga, Tubino and Daquis, who helped Army win three conference titles in the past, have attended practice with Cignal at Rizal Technological University gym in Mandaluyong.

The HD Spikers will be coached by George Pascua. Former Cignal spiker Micmic Laborte will be the assistant coach.

Earlier this month, Petron snagged Mika Reyes from F2 Logistics, which followed massive movements among teams.

Gonzaga and Tubino, who are Army enlisted personnel, are reportedly working on their honorable discharge.  Gonzaga is also eyeing a spot in the national team which is currently holding tryouts.

Gonzaga had previously told the Inquirer that she would miss eight months of this year’s volleyball season to train with the Army.
