Call it a dare, warning, empty taunt or pure garbage, trainer Freddie Roach has no choice but to wake up and listen.
The trainer of Jeff Horn, who challenges super southpaw Manny Pacquiao in April, says the unbeaten Australian is a tested warrior who specializes in conquering southpaws.
Glenn Rushton: “He (Horn) has always delivered. Nothing stops him. You hit him and he gets up. It’s that warrior spirit where you try to become devoid of emotion. He eats southpaws for breakfast.”
Well, based on that bold claim, Pacquiao could be in trouble if he comes in half-prepared for the battle against Horn scheduled on April 23.
There was also no detail or list of the southpaws Horn had supposedly feasted on.
Were the knockdowns Horn had suffered in previous fights delivered by left-handers?
Recently, the trusted international referee Bruce McTavish said Horn, with his plodding style, would be lucky to last four rounds with Pacquiao.
McTavish was a judge in Horn’s last fight which the Aussie Hope had won by stoppage.
Horn, strong as he is, has been openly described as slow and predictable.
Don’t tell that to Horn’s trainer, who claims he has been studying Pacquiao for a long time.
Rushton believes he holds the perfect game plan to beat the fighting senator from the Philippines.
Isn’t Horn too inexperienced, inferior compared to Pacquiao?
Glenn Rushton: Doubters will have egg on their face.
Freddie Roach: They all blab and blab until they get slugged in the mouth.
