Racal, Jru eye share of no. 1

/ 04:43 AM February 06, 2017

Racal tries to keep top spot on Monday while a resurgent Jose Rizal U tackles struggling AMA Online Education in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at JCSGO gym in Cubao.

The Tile Masters hope to extend their unbeaten start to three games when they collide with dangerous Batangas at 11 a.m., followed by the 1 p.m. clash between the Heavy Bombers and the Titans.

Racal dumped AMA, 78-73, a week ago, and Tile Masters coach Jerry Codiñera believes his team is capable of playing even better against a Batangas squad that seems to be growing in confidence.

“I feel we’ve underestimated our opponents in the last game,” said Codiñera. “We can’t take anyone lightly.”

Joseph Sedifura has been a rejuvenated player with Batangas and coach Eric Gonzales will count on him to lead the charge against a deep and talented Racal squad bannered by Arellano playmaker Kent Salado.

Meanwhile, JRU coach Vergel Meneses still refuses to get carried away by the Bombers’ 2-0 start.

“We still have to fix a lot of things in our game especially our execution,” said Meneses. —CEDELF P. TUPAS
