Despite a 0-2 start, Adamson head coach Airess Padda saw some positives in her team’s recent three-set loss in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament.
The Lady Falcons bowed to Far Eastern University, 25-12, 25-19, 25-16, Wednesday.
“Even though we lost today, I told the girls it’s all about improvement, growth and I think the effort and energy they gave tonight was definitely an improvement from the UP [University of the Philippines] game,” said Padda.

The Lady Falcons lost their opener to the Lady Maroons, 25-18, 25-11, 25-18, but Padda saw a new air of enthusiasm in her team that was missing in their first game.
If the Lady Falcons looked shell-shocked against the Lady Maroons, Padda’s team was able to establish a semblance of rhythm in the second set against FEU giving the 31-year-old head coach a glimpse of what they can potentially do.
“In the second set, Jema [Galanza] started to get some amazing kills, Joy [Dacoron] started blocking, we were digging, we started to get some momentum and I think we started running with it,” said Padda.
“They got to see we can compete with some of the better teams in this league.”
Padda, though, admits they still have a long way to go to make an impact in the UAAP, especially with an undersized lineup and an offense that revolves mainly around Galanza.
“It’s just going to be a hard road for us this year, we don’t have the firepower, we don’t have the height to compete with these teams, we don’t have the experience, but as long as we’re improving and growing there’s something good that will come along the way,” said Padda.
