Cocolife joins PSL with returnee Gumabao in tow

She’s back in the Philippine Super Liga, but this time she’s joining forces with familiar foes.

Michelle Gumabao, who left Pocari Sweat in the Shakey’s V-League, is back in the PSL as part of the new Cocolife franchise.

Joining Gumabao is former collegiate rival Denden Lazaro whose Ateneo Lady Eagles had iconic finals series against Gumabao’s De La Salle Lady Spikers in the UAAP.

Former Generika captain and Lady Spiker Wensh Tiu is also now with the Asset Managers along with another former La Sallian Mika Esperanza. Therese Gaston, who just graduated from Ateneo, is also with the team.

Cocolife representative Josh Ylaya said the Asset Managers want to break the stigma that Ateneans and La Sallians are rivals to the death and showcase camaraderie among schools not seen by many.

“The thing is these players are friends for the longest time,” said Ylaya Thursday at Centerstage in Mall of Asia during the announcement of the PSL Invitational Conference that will begin on March 4.

“This is an attempt to break the barrier between Ateneo and La Salle players, we want to show that even if these players were rivals during their college they can be friends on the court.”
