College rivals boost new squad Cocolife

Cocolife, a new team composed of former superstars of bitter rival schools La Salle and Ateneo, is not worried over tough competition when it joins the Philippine Superliga Invitational Cup starting March 4.

Team executive Joshua Ylaya said they will use the Invitationals to test the waters before embarking in the All-Filipino Conference later in the season.

Composed of A-list players like Michele Gumabao and Denden Lazaro, Ylaya said they are ready to take on the challenge but are keeping their expectations low considering the level of play in the PSL.

As it is, the Assets Managers offer a unique mix of the players in an attempt to break the great divide between the two most dominant schools in the collegiate league.

Former La Salle stalwart Gumabao and Wensh Tiu will join hands with former Ateneo starter Lazaro in the new club. Final lineup will be released by next week.

“We have no problem with them playing against each other before because off the court they are friends,” said Ylaya who was part of the La Salle champion team in 2003.

Adamson mentor Airess Padda will coach Cocolife.
