La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus measures how close the Lady Spikers are to the form he wants them to be not by the numbers in their win-loss column but in the way they perform on the court.

And even after an impressive four-set victory over the UST Tigresses, the Lady Spikers still failed to measure up to their mentor’s lofty standards.

“Our core before is now gone and right now we still have so many areas that we need to fix if ever we want to match the level we were in last year,” said De Jesus.

The defending champion rose to 2-0 with a 25-23, 16-25, 25-14, 25-22 victory over UST Saturday at San Juan Arena.

Kim Dy connected on a quick hit to buy the Lady Spikers a little breathing room before returning Desiree Cheng sealed the match for the Lady Spikers.
