Mighty loads up offense
Mighty Sports has ample material, but lacks time to jell.
Head coach Charles Tiu hopes that his players will acquire chemistry as the 28th Dubai International Basketball gets going Feb. 18 to 25.
Added to the already formidable roster is veteran gunner Gary David and high-leaper JC Intal, who relishes the idea of playing again with Ryan Araña and Beau Belga, his former teammates with Harbour Centre, and two-time PBA MVP Willie Miller, his teammate with the defunct Barako Bull.
Article continues after this advertisementFormer Gilas Pilipinas mainstay Chris Tiu, brother of Charles, is also in the fold with former amateur superstars Kiefer Ravena of Ateneo and Jeron Teng of De La Salle.
Tiu, Ravena, Teng and Manuel are constant scoring threats, complementing the defensive savvy of 7-foot-3 Hasheem Thabeet and naturalized Filipino Marcus Douthit.
“We’re aiming for the championship,” said Tiu Sunday night when the Mighty Sports team, being supported by Rain or Shine and Scratch It, was presented to the media.
