Cafe France downs Wangs Basketball behind Desiderio

Cafe France picked up the slack in the third period to come away with the 84-74 victory over Wangs Basketball Tuesday in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

From a 59-all deadlock, the Bakers unleashed a 14-2 run to end the third frame with a 73-61 edge.

Paul Desiderio once again had a hot streak from beyond the arc, going 5-of-9 from threes to finish with 23 points and four rebounds for Cafe France.

Rod Ebondo added 20 markers, nine boards, and two blocks, while Michael Calisaan stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists, one steal steal, and a block.

“Everybody wanted to win but there was no energy and effort in the first half. I’m happy that we bounced back in the second half although there were still some lapses,” said coach Egay Macaraya, as the Bakers claimed solo second place at 4-1 with their third straight victory.

It was a sorry loss for Wangs Basketball as it spoiled John Tayongtong’s 39-point outburst to fall to its fourth straight defeat and drop to 1-4.
