Blackwater stakes PBA D-League lead versus Freego

MANILA, Philippines—Blackwater seeks to solidify its hold of top spot when it tackles Freego Jeans Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Arellano Gym.

Seeking to sustain their brilliant forms, the Elite gun for a fourth straight victory against Freego at 4 p.m.

Cebuana Lhuillier shoots for its third straight victory at 2 p.m. against RnW Pacific Pipes.

The Gems are tied for second with Big Chill and Freego Jeans with identical 2-0 records.
Blackwater coach Leo Isaac considers the game against unbeaten Freego as the toughest test yet for his young squad.

The core of Freego’s lineup is composed of players from Adamson U, also coached by Leo Austria.

“This is a huge game for us,” said Isaac. “Freego Jeans is a team that plays aggressive and with a lot of energy. They work well under coach Leo’s system.”

Freego is coming off a 58-48 conquest of Boracay Rum behind the solid play of point guard Lester Alvarez.
