Major stakeholders of Philippine tennis expressed their full support for Jean Henri Lhuillier’s bid to replace Philippine Tennis Association president Salvador Andrada, who promised to resign on Monday.
Palawan Express Pawnshop president Bobby Castro is among those backing Lhuillier’s bid.
Castro and Lhuillier bankroll nearly 80 percent of tennis tournaments in the country.
Lhuillier was supposed to run in the controversial Feb. 8 elections that didn’t push through when Andrada called for polls only for lower positions.
Other tennis sponsors like Tru-Flex, Toby’s, Wilson, B-Meg, Dunlop, Slazenger and Babolat had reportedly thrown their support behind Lhuillier’s bid. —MARC ANTHONY REYES
