Far Eastern University notched its second straight win in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament at the expense of University of the East, 25-18, 25-22-27-25, 25-11, Saturday at Filoil Flying V Arena.

The Lady Tamaraws improved to 2-2 after while the Lady Warriors have yet to win its first match in four outings.

FEU was on the brink of a three-set victory but the Lady Warriors had other plans in the third with Shaya Adorador powering UE and Bernadeth Pons doing a disappearing act for the Lady Tamaraws.

Adorador tied the set at 23-23 before Pons committed a crucial error that gave UE the 26-25 lead.

Adorador then forced a fourth set when her spike grazed the left ring finger of Pons.

Though FEU bounced back with a commanding fourth set, head coach Shaq Delos Santos did not appreciate how the Lady Tamaraws let their guard down in the third period.

“We did not play really well in the third and that’s why we lost that period,” said Delos Santos. “I talked to the players that that can’t happen again, we can’t relax even if we lead two sets to nothing.”

“It wasn’t okay that we gave up one set, but the good thing is we learned from our mistake and we had the chance to fix our mistakes.”

Pons, despite her shortcomings in the third, finished with a game-high 17 points to lead the Lady Tamaraws while Jerrili Malabanan added 15.

Adorador had 12 points to lead UE while Mary Anne Mendrez also finished in double digits with 10.
