The 2017 SEABA Championship, which was initially slated in April, has been moved to May.
The tournament, which has the Philippine men’s national basketball team as the heavy favorite, will be staged at Smart Araneta Coliseum from May 12-18.
No less than business tycoon and longtime Gilas Pilipinas patron Manny V. Pangilinan announced the news with finality on his Twitter account on Saturday.
“It’s final. #LabanPilipinas and Gilas time again! SEABA in Manila, May 12-18 at Araneta. Led by Smart, TV5, and Meralco. #PUSO,” Pangilinan (@iamMVP) posted.
The SEABA serves as a qualifier for the 2017 Fiba Asia Cup.
The national team currently has a 24-man PBA pool which includes young guns Mac Belo, Jio Jalalon and Art dela Cruz and Gilas mainstays three-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo and Jayson Castro.
