Ateneo crushed Adamson with a resounding 25-19, 25-18, 25-13 victory Saturday in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament.
The victory in front of a loud crowd at Filoil Flying V centre was so resounding, it not only sent the Lady Eagles soaring into a second straight victory, it also exposed problems pestering inside the Lady Falcons’ nest.
“There are personal problems within the team,” said Jema Galanza, who was visibly holding back her emotions as she spoke after their game. “We were surprised there was this issue within the team, even the coaches didn’t know it. But we’re finding a way to fix it.”
“I think those problems are what’s stopping this team from getting any momentum.”
The Lady Falcons, who dropped to 0-4, are practically a new team from the up down with American head coach Airess Padda leading a promising staff composed of collegiate icons Angelique Tabaquero and Michele Gumabao.
Galanza, the only notable holdover from the previous season’s team, led Adamson with eight points and promised to find solutions to the team’s internal crisis.
“Of course I’ll try to fix this, by Monday all of us will talk about this and that’s when I’ll know what’s really the problem,” she said.
