Sagese of Lebanon banked on the 46-point explosion of American import Terrell Stoglin to frustrate Mighty Sports-Philippines anew, 95-92, in the Dubai International Basketball Championship Sunday at Dubai Indoor Stadium.
Like in its 84-82 loss to Egypt, Mighty had a chance to send the game into overtime, but Beau Belga’s potential game-tying triple fell short.
Its third straight loss in as many outings put Mighty’s semifinals bid in jeopardy.
Mighty Sports will battle the Homenetmen, also of Lebanon, on Tuesday before going up against early semifinalist Al Riyadi on Wednesday.
A Chris Tiu triple gave Mighty Sports a 78-71 lead early in the fourth, but Stoglin presided over an 11-1 counter attack that tilted the balance. —ROY LUARCA
