PBA Philippine Cup: Dillinger carries ailing Talk N’ Text past Powerade

MANILA, Philippines—Jared Dillinger uncorked back-to-back treys in the final 70 seconds to lift Talk N’ Text past Powerade, 95-86, the 2011 PBA Philippine Cup.

Dillinger scored 17 points and Japeth Aguilar banged in 21 points and 13 rebounds as the Texters pulled together in the second half to ward off the Tigers.

It was a nip-and-tuck payoff period with both teams trading baskets, until Dillinger and Japeth teamed up for eight unanswered points that sealed Talk N’ Text’s sixth win.

It wasn’t pretty win, though, as the Texters’ lost another player to injury shortly after veteran bigman Ali Peek took a gunshot to the nape.

Ryan Reyes suffered a suspected ACL or MCL tear, joining Jimmy Alapag, Rich Alvarez and Aaron Aban in the injured list.

Inconsistency continues to hound the Tigers on the other hand with the second straight setback, and their fifth overall this conference.

Rookie Marcio Lassiter chipped in a game-high 24 points and seven assists while Gary David snapped out of a funk with 21 points but it still wasn’t enough to carry Powerade.
