After Ginebra entered the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup Finals with a Game 7 ouster of Star on Tuesday, Mark Caguioa only had one thing to say to the squad’s naysayers.

“Kung sino man yung mga (haters), kangkungin niyo mga mukha niyo. Thank you,” he said.

Caguioa has grown tired of the Ginebra doubters, but instead of fighting back, he gave them something to talk about.

Just after the win, he posted a meme which shows him selling kangkong (water spinach), a vegetable which the Filipinos have long associated with losing.

But the former PBA Most Valuable Player knows that there’s a mightier opponent ahead in the two-time defending champion San Miguel.

“They got a lot of weapons: they got June Mar (Fajardo), they got shooters, they got point guards – all the spots. We’re going to have a handful against them,” he said.

Though coming in as underdogs in the best-of-7 championship series, Caguioa is confident with Ginebra’s two biggest assets: the crowd and the legendary coach Tim Cone.

“Of course, our advantage is the crowd. They’re always there to support us. Even though we’re down by 20, 30, it seems like we’re always up because they’re always there for us. I know they’re going to be there in the Finals,” he said. “Also, I know coach Tim (Cone) is going to have something up in his sleeve.”

Game 1 of the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup Finals begin on Friday at Mall of Asia Arena.
