PH team coach fulfills wish

DAVAO CITY—By all indications, the final 12 players have already been identified.

That’s the pronouncement of Pete Cayco, acting president of the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. after the LVPI’s two-day tryouts ended here Sunday.

“I think coach (Francis Vicente) already has his 12 players but we’ll still be searching for others to complete the 20-player pool,” Cayco said.

Vicente indicated he has fulfilled his “wish list” after Alyssa Valdez showed up at University of Southeastern Philippines gym straight from Bangkok where she is playing as import.

“Alyssa, you made me happy,” Vicente was overheard as telling his former ward at the University of Santo Tomas juniors team.

Sources also said libero Denden Lazaro, opposites Aiza Maizo and Jovelyn Gonzaga are among those who topped the physical, physiological and psychological tests.

“Of course, it’s all going to be based on their positions in the team,” added Cayco.
