Arum says Pacquiao-Khan not yet official

The fight between Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan is not official yet, as per the Filipino boxing champion’s longtime promoter Bob Arum.

In an interview with BoxingScene.com, Arum didn’t have much to offer as far as the reported bout is concerned.

“No,” Arum said in the interview when asked if Pacquiao-Khan is official. “I have none. We’ll see what we see.”

Arum’s comments came on the heels of the two welterweights’ announcements on social media that they had come to terms in fighting on April 23.

The Top Rank honcho cleared everyone in Pacquiao’s camp is still on the same page.

“I don’t know what offer were talking about but obviously we’re all collegial, we’re all on the same team and we’ll discuss what is the best move for Manny tomorrow,” said Arum, who is scheduled to talk with Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila).

There has been much confusion surrounding Pacquiao’s next fight.

Last January, the 38-year-old Pacquiao was set to fight Jeff Horn in April in Australia before the venue was reportedly moved to the UAE a month later.

Then came the latest development about Khan, who brings more appeal to fight fans rather than the little-known Horn.

Pacquiao and Khan go a long way. The two were former sparring partners and were once handled by the same trainer in Freddie Roach before Khan and the Hall of Fame coach had a falling out in 2012.
